Sean Wilson is a CEO and senior executive with more than 20 years’ experience leading organisations through growth, turnaround, transformation and value creation.
He has spent more than a decade in board-appointed CEO and Managing Director roles, alongside senior executive positions including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, General Manager and Country Head. He has held P&L accountability of up to $85 million and led teams of more than 300 people across executive, professional and frontline functions.
His experience spans commercial strategy, operations, people, technology and organisational performance across startups, scale-ups, billion-dollar enterprises, industry bodies, not-for-profits and government.
Creating measurable value
Sean has a proven history of executive impact, including growing revenue and profitability, transforming underperforming businesses, scaling operations, building leadership capability, developing new revenue streams, and positioning businesses for successful sale, succession and transition.
He is particularly experienced working with founders, owners and boards where the challenge goes beyond developing strategy. He gets to the heart of what is really happening inside an organisation, identifies what is holding it back, and turns strategy into focused execution and measurable results.
Pace with judgement
Sean's edge is combining pace with judgement. He identifies inflection points early, makes decisions and moves quickly without becoming reactive. He focuses on reducing false starts, creating organisational alignment and improving execution. He is equally comfortable at the strategic and operational level, moving from defining the direction to making sure the organisation actually delivers it.
An owner's mindset
Sean operates with an owner's mindset. Whether leading as CEO, working alongside a founder, contributing as an executive or board member, or advising an organisation, he focuses on what will materially improve performance and enterprise value. He is motivated by outcomes rather than ego, and is comfortable making the difficult decisions required to move an organisation forward.
Board and governance experience
Sean has more than 10 years of board and governance experience and has served on more than 20 boards and committees.
His professional and academic background spans business, governance, technology, human resources, legal services, training and director education. He has been admitted to professional bodies including the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Australian HR Institute (AHRI) and Information Technology Professionals Association (ITPA).
His international outlook has also been shaped by travel to more than 35 countries and experience working with international clients and organisations.
Recognising patterns others miss
Sean has a strong ability to recognise the patterns behind organisational performance, disruption and opportunity. Having led businesses through growth, transformation, underperformance, integration and change across different industries, he understands that while the circumstances may vary, the underlying challenges are often remarkably similar.
Growth can expose weaknesses that were previously hidden. Complexity can slow decision-making. Poor alignment can undermine execution. Weak accountability can erode performance. Leadership change can create uncertainty. And changing markets can expose both risk and opportunity.
Sean brings the perspective to see beyond the symptoms, understand what is really driving performance and identify where intervention will have the greatest impact. He combines that insight with the practical executive experience to turn those observations into decisions, action and results.
Who he's worked with
Sean has worked with founders, private equity investors, owners, boards, executives, large enterprises, government, industry bodies and not-for-profit organisations across many sectors.
He also has a long-standing commitment to community initiatives spanning health, social justice, suicide prevention and sport.
