Sean Wilson has more than 20 years’ experience leading organisations through growth, turnaround, transformation and value creation, including more than a decade in board-appointed CEO and Managing Director roles.
He has served in CEO, Managing Director, COO, General Manager and Country Head positions, with P&L accountability of up to $85 million and leadership of teams of 300+ across executive, professional and frontline roles. His experience spans commercial strategy, operations, people, technology and organisational performance across startups, scale-ups and billion-dollar enterprises, as well as industry bodies, not-for-profit and government.
He has a proven record of delivering measurable executive and commercial outcomes.
He has also helped position businesses for successful sale and transition.
His international outlook has been shaped by travel to more than 35 countries and experience working with international clients and organisations.
His edge is combining pace with judgement. He identifies inflection points early, acts decisively and moves quickly without being reactive. This helps reduce false starts, accelerate alignment and improve execution. He is comfortable moving between strategy and implementation - from defining the direction to making sure the organisation actually delivers it.
He operates with an owner's mindset. Whether leading as CEO, working alongside a founder or contributing as an executive, board member or adviser, he focuses on what will materially improve the organisation rather than simply what looks good on paper. He is motivated by outcomes, not ego.
Sean is typically engaged when an organisation needs to stabilise, scale, reposition or grow. This may involve restoring commercial performance, strengthening leadership and accountability, improving operational execution, identifying new growth opportunities, preparing for succession, or unlocking greater enterprise value.
A significant part of his experience has involved working with founders, owners and boards, where success requires more than developing strategy. It requires understanding the commercial reality of the organisation, identifying what is holding it back and then working with people to turn the strategy into measurable results.
He also has 10+ years of board and governance experience, supported by qualifications across business, governance, technology, HR, legal services, training and director certification. He has been admitted to professional bodies including the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Australian HR Institute (AHRI) and Information Technology Professionals Association (ITPA).
He has developed a reputation for recognising patterns of organisational performance, disruption and opportunity that repeat across different industries.
